Global Atlantic Financial Group - Leaders Insights Summer 2020 | Page 13
LIKE SO many GAIN members, the
first thing you can say about Rasberry
Producer Group (RPG) is that it’s not
your average IMO! From their “RockStar”
program to Camp IUL to the fact that
members of the Rasberry family star
in HGTV’s popular series Home Town,
there’s a lot of excitement at RPG—and a
lot of great ideas to learn from!
At RPG, it all starts with Indexed
Universal Life Insurance. “Life insurance is
what we do,” says Danny Rasberry, head of
RPG, who started his career 33 years ago
and has never looked back. After years of
achieving national success in the 401(k)
and variable annuity side of the industry,
Danny developed a strong passion for
Indexed Universal Life (IUL). Today, Danny
has led the RPG team to become leaders
in the IUL industry: “IUL is our focus. In
fact, I’d have to say that Indexed Universal
Life Insurance has changed our life. Done
the right way, it can enable a policy owner
to build assets in a unique fashion. We
love telling the IUL story every day. IUL
is not for everyone, but it’s something to
consider for many.”
How RPG tells the story is one of the
many aspects that makes this group stand
out. RPG’s RockStar program is about
helping agents market themselves in
their hometown, community, and region.
RPG firmly believes that marketing
yourself, rather than the products you
sell, is the true key to success. As Danny
puts it, “RockStar is the basis of what we
do. We market the agent. We make the
agent the star! We want the agent to be
noticed in a way that creates separation
from everyone else—like a rock star!
We want our agent in a category of one,
and we want the community to be fans
of our agents!” In addition, RPG puts a
big emphasis on storytelling. “We want
our RockStars to be great storytellers
who attract others to them,” says Danny.
“Once that’s done, everything falls into
place pretty well.”
This is where Camp IUL comes in. “We
thrive—us and the agents—when we’re

NOTICED IN A WAY THAT CREATES
SEPARATION FROM EVERYONE
ELSE—LIKE A ROCK STAR! WE WANT
OUR AGENT IN A CATEGORY OF ONE,
AND WE WANT THE COMMUNITY TO
BE FANS OF OUR AGENTS!”
together,” Danny says. “Face to face, hand
in hand is critical for us. That’s one of the
reasons we do something each month
called Camp IUL at our home office in
Laurel, Mississippi, and sometimes on the
road. These training sessions are free. We
cover meals—and we make it fun!”
Relationships are vital to RPG, and
that’s one reason the group places such
a high value on its GAIN membership.
As Danny puts it, “Since we first started
working together in 2002, there’s been
one constant with Global Atlantic, and
that’s the relationship. Being with the
people at Global Atlantic is like going
home. It’s truly family. They treat us like
family, and we treat them the same way.
It’s the type of relationship where you
could call in the middle of the night to
share an idea or thought. They’re always
willing to listen to ‘the rest of the story.’
And if it makes sense, they’ll make the
effort to see how we can make it work.
What more could you ask from a carrier?”
Telling stories. Being rock stars. And
caring about hometowns. All of that
comes together in two final facts about
RPG.
First, RPG’s Senior VP in charge of
their pending and marketing department
was discovered by Danny because she
actually was a rock star with six top-40
hits on the country charts!
Here’s how he tells it: “Six years ago I
saw a video from a singer by the name of
Amber Hayes as I was searching to find
one more act on my annual American
Legacy Tour, which was a marketing
concept that I provided for our agents.
I was stunned that I didn’t know this
incredible entertainer. I booked her for
the two-week tour with a host of other
acts, and we played in theaters, agents’
backyards, and other venues. She
watched intently, and when the tour was
over, she wanted to talk. She recognized
what I was doing to help agents market
their business and asked if there was a
place for her.”
Was there ever! Today Amber is a
crucial contributor to RPG’s success.
“She will take RPG to new heights that
we can’t even imagine yet,” says Danny.
“By also being part of GAIN, Amber has
all the tools she needs to help build an
unbelievable agency.”
And there’s one more amazing fact.
Danny’s son, Jim, his daughter-in-law,
Mallorie, his niece, Erin, along with her
husband, Ben, all appear in a television
series on HGTV called Home Town,
which was recently renewed for its fifth
season. When new families move into
Laurel, Ben and Erin help them fix up
their house and make it a dream home.
Jim and Mallorie Rasberry appear in
nearly every episode. No word yet on
whether Danny will develop a reality
show about IUL, but if there’s a way, you
better believe he’ll find it.
