Global Aerobridge Market Global Aerobridge Market 2017 forecast to 2021
Global Aerobridge Market Growth Analysis, Opportunities, Challenges, Forecasts Report till 2021
Aerobridges were mainly introduced for passenger comfort. Passengers with disabilities face difficulty in climbing
up and down the stairs laid on the apron to board a flight. These passengers usually require the help of crew to
board and disembark from an aircraft. This slows down the boarding process and increases the layover time for
flights causing delays. Use of aerobridges assist such passengers with mobility impairments and allow smoother
operations. Aerobridges also shelter passengers from the weather, engine blast, and dust.
Technavio’s analysts forecast the global aerobridge market to grow at a CAGR of 5.85% during the period 2017-
2021.

Two-tier aerobridges are being implemented across the globe, particularly at busy international terminals, which
accommodate bigger wide-bodied aircraft. The two-tier aerobridges enable convenient transit of passengers from
the terminal building to the aircraft and vice versa. They also optimize the process of baggage handling by
reducing the time taken from the aircraft to the baggage counters. For busy airports, the two-tier aerobridges
ensure high return on investment by serving two flights at the same time (i.e., catering to the arriving and
departing passengers simultaneously). These aerobridges bifurcate into two directions to the doors of two
different aircraft. fifty-two of such aerobridges have already been installed at the new building in the terminal T2
at Mumbai airport in India. Use of the bus service and the stairs not only increases the transit time but also poses
difficulty to the disabled passengers. As for the baggage handling, the passengers require almost an hour after the
flight lands to reach the baggage carousel. This time is expected to be reduced to half once such aerobridges are
commissioned.
The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs
from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in
addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
