Adam Moss In Q1, Adam Moss (LTS CM in NYC) was selected to take part in the Global AdOps Mobility Program. Check out below to learn more about his experience in South East Asia, and don’t forget to watch your emails for details later in the year on how you can get a chance to work for a month in another LinkedIn office! 1. Which Linkedin office did you work from as part of the Mobility program? Singapore 2. For the benefit of all the new members among us, explain what the Mobility program is? The Mobility Programme is an opportunity for AdOps’ individual contributors to travel to and work from a different office for one month. The goal of the program is to share best practices and meet with local team members and leadership. The experience helps promote collaboration across regions and build stronger relationships within the team. You can read more about the program at go/adopsglobalmobility! 3. Any culture surprises/shocks during your stay in Singapore and China? i) The heat!! In the NYC office, we would wear shorts when it’s 90 degrees. However, shorts would definitely be weird at the Singapore office. ii) Singapore is incredibly clean and efficient. iii) The language barrier isn’t an issue at all in Singapore. iv) The food is even more amazing than I had hoped! 4. Key learnings from the program Keeping this brief but if anyone wants more info I’d be happy to elaborate, just shoot me an email! :) • Cultural differences and how they impact the differences ◦ Service-based economy - Clients need greater assistance/training with new products and features - A lot of additional thought and planning needs to happen as we move to self-serve products ◦ Differences within APAC - Business and lifestyle cultures vary greatly within the region. For example, Australia vs. Japan • APAC Team Challenges ◦ Inventory - Limited Linkedin members in APAC causes targeting to be very broad ◦ Decision Making - Most initiatives/major decisions stem from NAMER ◦ Communication - Time differences causes lapse in communication - Members of different geographic teams are unable to join some meetings - Not many opportunities to connect with team members in different offices • APAC Team Successes ◦ Smaller teams allow greater involvement with your pod ◦ Smaller office allows you to meet more people across business lines ◦ Opportunity to run awesome initiatives SU Try and Buy AM/CM Monthly Fusion Meeting
