romises2Kids creates
a brighter future for
foster children in San
Diego County. From the
moment they come into
foster care and through to adulthood,
Promises2Kids provides the hope, support
and opportunities these special individuals
need to change their lives for the better…
now and for years to come. The programs
include Camp Connect, Guardian Scholars,
Foster Funds, and the A.B. and Jessie
Polinsky Children’s Center. These programs
assist Promises2Kids in its mission to
create a brighter future for foster youth.
On Monday, June 11, Promises2Kids will
celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Dream
On Concert Gala, presented by Kevin and
Raegan Prior.
Deborah Marengo and Joan Waitt, then
Promises2Kids’ Board Members, established
the concert 10 years ago and have been the
driving forces behind its success, growing
it into one of San Diego’s top charitable
events, bringing in more than $1 million
every year at the sell-out gala. “Joan and
Deborah are dedicated to bringing the
community together to increase awareness
and support for our organization,” Tonya
Torosian, CEO of Promises2Kids shared with
Giving Back Magazine.
Joan Waitt will once again host this special
event at her beautiful La Jolla estate. She
will once again be joined by co-chairs
Deborah Marengo, Charo Garcia–Guerra
and Jolene Perry. Guests will be treated to
a private concert by Rob Thomas, Grammy
winning recording artist and lead singer of
Matchbox Twenty and a special menu from
Executive Chef Jeffrey Strauss.
