W
hile the holiday season is often a time of coming together with
family and friends over a holiday meal, one in eight Americans
are food insecure and do not know where their next meal will
come from. Customers, community partners, friends and team
members across San Diego turned out in force last holiday
season to join the fight against hunger by contributing to Wells Fargo’s first-ever
national food collection drive, providing non-perishable food items to local food
banks and pantries to help the San Diego community have access to quality meals.
This year, Wells Fargo is working with Feeding America and
its network of 200 food bank affiliates around the country to
support near-term and long-term hunger-related causes in
local communities. Building on the success of last year’s
Holiday Food Bank program, from November 13 through
December 31, Wells Fargo will once again turn its 103 San
Diego branches (5,700 nationwide) into collection locations
where people will have the opportunity to drop off non-
perishable food items. As part of the program, Wells Fargo will
encourage the San Diego community to help provide food for
families during the holiday season.
Wells Fargo will launch this year’s Holiday Food Bank program
with a $4 million donation to Feeding America and match up
to an additional $1 million in consumer monetary donations, as
well as mobilize team members to volunteer at local nonprofits.
To get involved simply drop off non-perishable food at a Wells
Fargo branch, volunteer time at a local food bank, or donate
money to Feeding America this holiday season. A donation of
$1 equals 10 meals for families in need. Join Wells Fargo to
give what you can this holiday season.
