Dear Readers,

Art is freeing. It allows our creativity to take root, shape, and form outside of our minds, our selves. And once we leave it there, on the page or in a dance or song, we can let it be. This month’s artists have found a similar freedom in being at “home” on the softball field, in nature, with friends, in God, and maybe nowhere in particular. Our writers, artists, and photographers found home to be a place where they have the freedom to be who they are.

In this issue, you’ll find work from a couple of guest contributors and the staff of GirlSense & NonSense. Let it serve as an introduction, an introduction to the potential of this magazine and an introduction to the team of artists that make up GS&NS. What better way to introduce ourselves than by inviting you into our homes?

The artists in the issue (and future issues) range in ages 13-23. Some are new artists while others are more experienced, but we are all still emerging, forming, and developing ourselves as human beings and creators. Let this magazine serve as a platform for conversation, where imperfect art at all levels can exist on the same page and contribute to a much larger narrative: the development of the young female artist.
