She only wanted guidance through it all. Help Guide states that, “No matter what, talk to someone, especially if you are having any thoughts of harming yourself or others. Asking for help is the bravest thing you can do, and the first step on your way to feeling better.” This just goes to show that talking to someone is truly beneficial.
All in all, a depressed teenager just needs someone to talk to. Depression is not easily detectable. A false smile is all it takes for people to think that someone is happy. My friend felt like death was his only option. When he finally started talking about what made him upset and who made him upset people were able to make him really smile. They listened and stepped in when people made fun of him. He was listened to and his depression lessened. The depressed teen can talk to a counselor, a friend, a parent, a sibling, or even call a hotline for help. All it takes to prevent a possible suicide is being open minded and listening to the person. Sometimes it is better to think about how you would feel in that situation. You would want someone to listen to you and try to help you through your problems. All it takes is a bit of your time to help somebody else through a tough time. We can defeat depression by simply listening and offering advice.
