More On The Plate by Emily Tierney

Art by Emily Tierney

Here in America we are eating. We are eating fast food. We are eating vegan. We are constantly consuming. The sad thing is that we are also eating at the heart of nature and some of us don’t realize that we are getting full and the plate is becoming empty.

Eating at the heart of nature, to me, simply goes to show that there is less and less of it on the menu. Wildlife is becoming endangered as we bulldoze our way into a future of buildings and technology.

We are losing trees and animals are losing homes because of our disconnectedness. The way we are choosing to live is incompatible with the planet we live on. Earth is meant to flourish in nature. We are making it flourish with pollution and scarcity. I would like to see more planting and less destruction - more on the plate and less in our stomachs.
