GS&NS: Talk about your process as a writer. What energizes you to pick up a pen?
Jamie: My process as a writer almost always starts with turning on the soundtrack of “Perks Of Being A Wallflower.” It had a beautiful nostalgic playlist and gets me into the right headspace to write. I need concentration and emotion to write. Music always energizes me to start writing.
GS&NS: What advice would you give to emerging writers?
Jamie: Write all the time. Even if you're not always in the mood, write everyday. This goes for other means of creating too! I've been sketching everyday because I want to improve as a visual artist. Practice is the only way to get better.
