This is for you-
Young, white male
who feels disadvantaged
due to a lack of
diversity.
You told me:
Colleges look over you
and instead choose people
based on ethnicity.
You told me:
Feminism isn’t what it used to be,
it is full of
Women
wanting more, hating men.
You told me
that opportunities aren’t there for
Young, white males.
I hear excuses
for not
doing better
being better
striving for more.
I hear desperation,
for an answer
a reason
an explanation-
Young, white male
you are disadvantaged!
But not for the reasons
you’ve formed out of ignorance.
You do not know
the struggle, the pain, the tears.
You do now know
the fear of simply
being who you are,
walking down the street
with judgmental eyes
from people like yourself.
There is strength in struggle
that you do not know
and there
Young, white male,
is your true disadvantage.
THERE IS STRENGTH IN STRUGGLE THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW AND THERE YOUNG, WHITE MALE, IS YOUR TRUE DISADVANTAGE.
