FEATURED ARTIST
‘I moved
from Yuyao,
China to Shanghai for school and studied fashion
before moving on to Amsterdam to study business.
I fell in love with the mulitcultural aspect of the city
and after graduation in 2006 decided to stay and start
my own company, Ping Living, specialising in creating
unique scented candles and home diffusers.
I get my creative inspiration from my childhood
memories of growing up in a typical white walled
Chinese Jiangnan style home surrounded by beautiful
rice fields in the summer, wheat fields in autumn and
cotton fields in the spring. In Amsterdam I am inspired
when walking next to the Amstel river and working at
the famous Aalsmeer Flower Auction. All these vibrant
colors in nature find their way into my work.
Each day here is very different and it makes my work
very exciting. I’ve learned to be more open-minded,
accept new ideas and be inspired by everyday life.
I have recently started to create fashion illustrations.
In true Girl Gone International style, I spot the newest
trends all over the world while I travel and apply them
to my illustrations.
Through ink, pen and watercolor I try to depict the
essence of feminine beauty in it’s purest and most
concentrated form. I hope you enjoy the 8 ink and
watercolour drawings I have selected for the start of
each section of Issue 7. ’
