sloans
Sloan’s is an institution in Glasgow as
the oldest bar and restaurant still operating in the city. On Friday nights Sloans
hosts a weekly ceilidh in their upstairs
ballroom. They also have a nice sized
courtyard with umbrellas, making it the
perfect place to enjoy a pint come rain
or shine. On Saturday and Sunday, the
courtyard is also home to a cute market
where you can pick up jewelry, specialty
foods and gifts.
Other Mahogany bars to try are Dram!
and Oran Mor which is a beautiful converted church, both located in the West
End of Glasgow.

Did you know...?
Haggis is the national dish of Scotland and is a strangely tasty sausage-like dish made of sheep organs,
cooked in the animal’s stomach. Don’t try bringing it into the USA as it contains sheep’s lung which can’t be
imported into the States. Fear not, there is always vegetarian haggis. Try other national favourites such as
cheesy chips and deep fried anything in any Fish and Chip shop found all over the city.
A céilidh (kay-lee) is a night filled with live Gaelic folk music and dancing. You will collapse exhausted
and covered in bruises, but with a big smile in your face!
