Mike and I met in Tanzania after both hav-
ing summited Mount Kilimanjaro. We both love
the reactions we get from people when they ask
‘So you’re from Australia, he’s from America,
where did you both meet?’ My response is always, ‘Africa, as you do!’
Before meeting, we both traveled solo. While we
loved the freedom and independence that came
with solo travel, we have found that traveling as
a couple has many more advantages. Advantages include: costs are split in two, safety in numbers, someone to take care of you and shared
bag space!
There is absolutely nothing better or more
rewarding than experiencing the world with
your best friend. There are just some experiences that are better shared with another person. Traveling as a couple also generally means
you see more. Two sets of eyes have proven to
be better than one, and two different ways of
interpreting the world has led to more enriching
travel experiences.
Traveling the world together has brought us
closer as a couple. That’s not to say we haven’t
had our fair share of arguments while on the
road. Over time we have discovered many secrets for success, which have diminished the
need for divorce lawyers after each trip!
