Introducing
International
Japanese digital
artist, VJ & animator
KAORU YAMAMOTO
Originally from Osaka, Japan, digital
artist, VJ and animator, Kaoru Yamamoto, found herself falling in love
with Amsterdam following a visit to
an art show of her work in 1995. She
unintentionally ended up staying for
19 years, having previously lived in
London, New York and Paris.
Kaoru was one of the first female
Japanese computer graphic artists
in Japan in the early 90s, having
perfected a technique of painting and merging images on a programme called Shima Seiki, which
allowed work to be created in this
way before any other software.
Having previously studied textile
and weaving at Tama Art University
in Tokyo, she found working digitally
to be a lot less labour-intensive way
of stitching her vision together.
