“I should be… settling down… married…
a good daughter… chasing a career”
How many times a day do you lay a guilt trip on yourself?
Are all these ‘should
haves’ standing in
your way?
Ok no, you probably
shouldn’t eat 10 donuts in
one sitting or phone home
just once a year. Yes, you
should exercise and of
course, you should always
be kind to yourself. These
are all good ‘should haves’
that don’t negatively
interfere with your sense
of self or experience.
The problems start when
‘should haves’ start to hold
you back from really
unleashing your true self
and stop you from living
life to the fullest. These
inner ‘I should haves’ are
psychological burdens,
rooted in upbringing,
cultural background and
personal experiences.
