Replenishing Foot Bath
Not long after moving to the Netherlands,
where I have now been for 10 years, I
developed some health problems that left
the doctors stumped. A series of extremely
bad bouts of illness led me to specialist after specialist. It was discovered that I have
an allergy to cocomidopropyl betaine, a
very common foaming agent used in many
skin care products.
Ingredients
Sharing my passion
Below are 4 easy to make natural skincare
recipes to make from things already found
in your own kitchen cupboards.
can be any combination of the following...
Salt
You can use whatever salt you’ve
got in the house, but a generous dash of
sea salt, such as dead sea salt, has wonderful minerals that are great for your body
to absorb.
Oil
Adding an oil that is easily absorbed
by the skin will moisturize your feet while
you soak them. Recommended for this are
olive oil and hemp seed oil.
Cucumber
Soothing and mildly
bleaching, cucumber is also full of vitamins
and minerals, so this makes a nice addition
to any foot bath.
Lime If you’ve got stinky or hot itchy feet,
limes are great! They are anti-bacterial, a
deodorant and astringent, plus they moisturize and tone dry skin.
What t o do
Find a vessel of any kind so long as it’s
big enough to fit your feet. You can always wash your lasagne pan out later,
and disinfect with a touch of vodka. Put in
one or more of the listed ingredients and
an essential oil for scent. Fill your chosen
kitchen vessel with enough water (warm or
cool, your choice) to cover your feet, and sit
back and relax.
Soak your feet as long as you like, but at
least 10 minutes is recommended.
