2. Survive
*Make time for yourself every day. Sneak away and
have a coffee break, go to the gym or simply take in the
stunning view.
*Learn how to make your ‘crew food’ exciting, otherwise
eating the same thing every day for six months will
depress you!
*Always remember you’re working as a team. The ship
can get caught in a storm and the entire itinerary for the
day will change. When the crew keeps a flexible, positive outlook it improves the experience for everyone.
3. Thrive
*Go for every experience possible and never say that
you’re too tired to participate in crew activities. These
experiences are what make you feel like a real person
again!
*Get involved in volunteer events on port-days, go to
the crew parties and celebrate each others’ national
days. You’ll gain so much more than a paycheck during
your time onboard.
4. Baptism of King Neptune
The Baptism of King Neptune is a line-crossing ceremony and initiation rite for those crossing the equator
by ship for the first time. Every ship’s tradition is different. Certificates are issued after the initiation ritual as a
welcome into the court of King Neptune.
5. Beat Seasickness
Chelsea suggests taking ginger pills until you’ve grown
your ‘sea legs’ while Billie swears by green apples,
ginger ale and coca cola in combination with a jog to
take your mind off the motion and to prevent you from
feeling too lethargic.
