How has this work influenced you
professionally?
The best and hardest parts of
working on a ship?
Working onboard can be addictive! I’m currently looking for other opportunities that
will allow me to travel and work. I never
want to work a regularly scheduled office
job again!
It’s an amazing experience to wake up
each morning and be in a new place with
a day full of unique adventures and experiences ahead of you.
How has this work
influenced your personal life?
I now have friends from all over the world!
In a way you start to feel as if you’re living
a double life with one home and family onboard and another on land. It’s both strange
and exciting that the two rarely combine.
Once you’ve worked on a ship a part of
your mind and heart will always
be onboard.
Lofoten, Norway
My days often start at 7 or 8 in the morning
and don’t end until 10 in the evening so it
can be hard to make the time to enjoy the
experience of being at sea.
Best memory on the ship to date?
While the ship was in Greenland above
the Arctic Circle the sun never set. On the
way to the Ilulissat Icefjord around 3 in the
morning the light was perfect and a light
layer of fog was rolling in. I sat up and took
photos for hours that night and spent time
reflecting on life.
