I was left with no real option but to head back to Europe to find work.
I arrived in Palma de Mallorca on Tuesday, interviewed at a crew agency
on Wednesday, dock walked on Thursday and on Friday was offered a
trial period for the following week. The cogs were in motion. The trial was
a great sucess; they offered me a seasonal position but the boat didn’t
‘feel’ right. I remembered the very first piece of advice I was ever given
about working in the industry, “If it doesn’t feel right, don’t leave the dock”
and so I didn’t. I had a feeling something else was about to come up.
And it did!
I’m now employed on a beautiful yacht with an itinerary that includes a
sojourn to South America. The crew are fantastic and I’m really looking
forward to the adventures that will surely follow.
