Even if you can ’ t afford to splurge , rent a scooter and ride out to visit the beautiful grounds modeled after an old mansion in the Lanna Kingdom era . Explore the grounds by foot and make sure to stop at one of their two restaurants to enjoy an iced coffee .
7 . Best Temple
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep ( Doi Suthep ) is near the top of Mount Suthep to the north-west of the city hosting stunning views . Every Tuk-tuk or taxi driver in the city will offer to take you on the 15 km trip up the winding mountain road . But , if you ’ re up for an adventure rent a scooter and drive up yourself . Be careful on the way down as the roads are very steep and curvy , and remember to wear a helmet !

The House Ginger & Kafe Enjoy a romantic dinner out at this luxurious restaurant and escape the heat and smells of local street stalls . The house ’ s interior is perfect to cozy up and enjoy a mix of cuisine . For good value try the four course set dinner with a free glass of wine for 900 baht . At 199 Moonmuang Road and open daily 10am-11pm .
9 . Best Afternoon Chillout Spot
The Beena House . Just down the street from The de Chai Hotel , run by a very friendly mother and daughter team on Thapae Road Soi 4 , is the perfect place to have a Thai Snack or cold beer and re-group in the afternoon heat . The shaded courtyard sits directly across from a small local temple and can be the perfect place to watch the afternoon sun setting in peace while discussing evening plans . The Beena House was one of my favorite local spots !
