Troop 42561 & SHARE House

Local members of troop 42561 were in the news this month for their donations to SHARE House Backpack program .
Not only did these girls donate a portion of their proceeds from cookies sales to the program , which has a great need in the Vancouver Metro Area , but they also donated their time to helping fill bags of food for those in need in the area .
Backpacks from this program go home weekly with students in the area providing their families with extra food , to help ends meet in this struggling economy . Backpacks include things like spaghetti sauce , noodles , tuna , dried goods , and canned fruit / veggies , along with bread and other perishables when available .
Great job ladies !

Raechel from Troop 42227 attended the 2013 annual meeting of voting delegate via satellite at the Portland Service Center . Several topics were discussed and one bylaw was amended at the meeting . Present were 106of 170 voting members and 33 of 40 service units were represented at the Annual Meeting .
From Raechel : “ The meeting ran smoothly . The beginning piece about financial literacy , by a panel of professional women , was interesting and in my packet was some ideas how troops could do lessons . The idea is that parents are afraid to talk with their kids about this mostly due to their own insecurities and that schools really no longer provide support in this area .”
