MIXING IT UP WITH MONTANA MONTANA
1. Find a Summer Job: If you are old enough to hold a job, you can make some extra money for the upcoming year. You can apply for jobs at clothing stores in a local mall, start in the restaurant business (that was my first real job!). You can even do something fun. If you're a licensed babysitter you can babysit or you can walk dogs in your neighborhood. Find something fun that you like and you'll have a fun summer while making extra money.
2. Volunteer: If you don't want to have a job this summer (which is totally understandable) you can volunteer in your area. I had a volunteer position at an environmental law firm a few years ago because I wanted to see what the law firm was like. If you have an idea of what you would like to do, or just want to see something completely new, look around for a volunteer position.
3. Relax: If you want to just relax all summer, then relax. Sometimes you just need a few months to recover from a rough past school year or to prepare for a rough school year. The summer before my senior year, I relaxed and did my own thing because I knew that my senior year was going to be a very stressful year.
No matter what you choose to do this summer, do it for you, do what is necessary for you to succeed either for just the summer or for the upcoming school year. You may have people say you should be doing something else but you are entirely in charge of your life and your summer. Too many people have a say in your life, make this summer yours. Make this summer your best every and enjoy your time off from school.
Summer is upon us! I don't know about you but I know that I am so grateful that I am finally on a break from school. Summer can be used for a whole list of things. Some people have to work, some can volunteer all summer. Summer is the perfect time of the year to do what you want or what needs to be done. Here are some ideas for a fun and fulfilling summer break!
