Loving yourself can be a long and drawn
out adventure for everyone. Some have a
shorter journey, others have a longer one. I
know for myself, somedays are better than
others when it comes to loving myself, but I
am progressing overall.
I think the part that is the hardest is
knowing who you are, or who you want
to be. In High School,
especially my Freshman
and Sophomore years, I
had no idea who I wanted
to be. When we’re that
young, who really does?
I had ideas of what I
thought I wanted my life to
be, such as exploring the
ocean floor for shipwrecks.
By my senior year, I had a
better grasp of where my
interests lie. While I was
discovering myself, I didn’t
have any kind of mentor or
inspiration because I had
no clue who I should be
looking up to.
As I discovered my
passion for helping others, I found great
mentors, role-models and inspirational
women.
When I help someone, no matter how
small, it makes my day better and brighter. I

Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is around the corner!
Cupid has his bow and arrow pointed
at you sending hugs and love your
way!! For Valentine’s Day the makeup
should be soft and flirty - to show the
true beauty that you are. Very quick and
very easy. You don’t have to break out
the red lips, more liek “Pretty in Pink.”
Something soft and subtle. Apply light
application of foundation and a little
concealer to hide those imperfections,
lightly dust some blush or bronzer
on with a loose powder brush. My
favorite color this season is a soft pink
or peach to dust on the apple of the
cheeks. For the eyes, use a pale pink
or beige eyeshadow and sweep it over
the lids. Eyeliner can be skipped, if
used though, make the eyline very thin;
top only in a brown or black. Lash the
lashes, both the top and bottom with a
light mascara. For the lips, I would wear
a soft pink gloss or lipstick. After all of
that, you’re ready to go out for you’re
perfect date! Happy Valentine’s Day!
XOXO

know that my interest is helping people and
I know that I love myself better when I know
that I have helped someone, even if it is in
the smallest way possible.
By loving yourself, even it starts as being
once in a while, you will see an improvement
in your life.
My first semester of college surprised me
with the transition from high
school to college and I can
tell that I lost myself a little
bit. Over my holiday break, I
discovered the strength that
I had hidden away during
the past semester. I found
that I was tired of my life
depending on what others
thought of my choices so
I decided to take back my
life and show that strength
to the world.
There will be times when

it’s hard to love yourself
in a way of accepting
your physical shape but
love yourself for all of the
strength and love and
goodness that is in your soul and show the
world that you love yourself. The world will
turn into your oyster and will show you things
that will empower you in your life but will also
show you the good that resides in life.
