Matt Mercury is about doing the right thing, even when galactic sized odds are against you. It’s a space adventure that’s really about a family... A family that has a snarky robot, an inarticulate Cyclops, an army of lima bean shaped nantites and a super-genius ape. They all work together and care about one another, like a family. Our desire, as filmmakers and storytellers, is to put two hours of happiness in our audience’s lives. Maybe you’ll have a laugh and learn a valuable lesson along the way. My most difficult and longest life lesson has been and continues to be, loving and accepting myself. I was ridiculed throughout my childhood and adult years. I was told I would never amount to anything and was a hateful, mean and ugly person. After decades of getting this message, I believed it completely. In my early thirties, my family stopped speaking to me. As the next twenty years passed, I slowly began to realize what a blessing that was. They were the ones with the real problems, not me. I am much more resilient these days. I’m now confident of my view of the world and in myself. I can’t say I would do my early years again, but I do see how that experience shaped and strengthened me. I wish I had a mentor, but I never did. I’ve tried to learn from everyone I meet. I watch people and listen closely to what they have to say.
