Motown Rising is a social enterprise real estate development company working in the north end neighborhood of Detroit to rehab blighted homes into single and multi-units for rent.

They have also recently launched some very successful AirBnB’s that are in high demand.

They do all this by hiring local neighborhood men to teach and grow the skilled construction trades.

Many of the men have not previously been employed or known this skill set. Today, Motown Rising has more than 43 properties, and the guys have become a well-oiled machine.

We caught up with founder, Jacob de Golish, to discuss some of the themes around non-rescue specific to his Motown Rising.
