HOME & GARDEN TOUR
The Gilroy Assistance League is a non-profit corporation that began in 1959 as a chapter of the Children ’ s Home Society and was involved in adoptive services . In 1984 , the organization became the Gilroy Assistance League ( GALs ) and began concentrating their efforts to the community of Gilroy .
The Sixth Annual Home & Garden Tour , held May 7th & 8th featured five hillside homes . All had amazing views of Gilroy ’ s picturesque Westside . Featured this year were the homes of Efrain & Claudia Coria , Frank & Karen LaCorte , Don & Karen Christopher , Norm Rose & Ed Hennessee , and the gardens of Tim & Janice Filice . Proceeds from the event are awarded annually to local community youth groups .

Today , the organization is made up of 35 active members and provides grants to youth-oriented projects in our local Gilroy community .
The organization raises funds through three different fundraising activities throughout the year : the Annual Impressions Home & Garden Tour and Boutique ; a cookbook that they publish “ Reflections “; and the sale of a Historical Throw depicting early historical buildings of Gilroy .
GAL ’ s 2010 Grant Luncheon was held at Mama Mia ’ s . Eleven local youth organizations Horsemanship , Community Solutions , City of Gilroy “ Reading / Remember ”, GHS Grad Night , Gilroy
Grant requests are accepted annually and monies raised during the year are awarded to local community groups at an annual luncheon .
