My first travels took place in 1967—the same year that the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper
album appeared. That alluring line “Picture yourself in a boat on a river with
tangerine trees and marmalade skies…” captured my imagination and,
coincidentally I had my first travel article published that year.. The power of the
imagination, and dreams of “I would love to…” are the stimulus for travel. Gillick’s
