A HELPING HAND

I was given four options, and I had to choose one, amongst: install a village pump, provide education, fit solar panels so homes can have electricity, build concrete toilet with a safer sewage system.

I have installed a village pump for Grace's village. As it says on www.wateraid.co.uk, 3.3 million people in Ghana lack access to an improved water source. Over 3,000 children under five years old die annually from poor water in Ghana. 80% of diseases are caused by polluted, dirty water. Fresh water is a source for many things, and there are 3 million people in the world who don’t have access to it. Only 14% of Ghana have access to drink fresh water. The climate in Ghana is tropical----very hot and humid, which can cause dehydration. Grace’s children have died because of dirty water, and we can prevent this by providing them the fresh water they need to survive with. By installing a pump for the small village, we can stop these people from getting sick or passing away. Not only can this be for drinking but also for bathing and growing crops without having to use polluted water.
