1st Warley Guides celebrate 95th Birthday
1st Warley Guides celebrated their 95th
birthday with a special 3-course celebration
meal in the Centre on Tuesday 22nd
September. The actual anniversary of the Unit
being
registered
was on
24th
September
but as
their
normal
meeting is
on a
Tuesday it
made sense to celebrate then. The girls
enjoyed a melon starter, full turkey roast and
desert of ice-cream and Doc’s speciality mars bar cake. During the evening, Penny Walker was presented with her Young
Leader qualification badge and certificate by Brentwood Division Commissioner, Hilary Frankton.
A super evening was had by all.

2nd Loughton (St John’s) Guides and Senior section
decided that before handing out the longest reigning
monarch badges, they would have a go at re-creating the
coronation robes and regalia. However ours were made of
bin bags, newspaper, card and whatever could be found in
Mary Putt pays a visit
our cupboard.
1st Doddinghusrt Guides had a very special visitor in
November when Anglia Chief Commissioner Mary Putt paid
them a visit. Mary brought the Region standard with her and
explained what all the various parts of the standard symbolised.
In addition Guide Sally Parkinson, left, received her
Badel Powell Award from Mary, a very special presentation
indeed.
The results were amazing! Elizabeth Renny

Many congratulations to Emma Bentley and Lucy
Gevaux on gaining their Young Leader Qualification.
Although lots of units have Young Leaders and many
of them do start working on their qualification,
unfortunately only a few actually complete the
syllabus so we are particularly proud of the girls.
Emma and Lucy were both Brownies and Guides and
are now members of Senior Section. They are Young
Leaders with the 5th Gidea Park Brownies and Lucy
also helps with 1st Gidea Park Rainbows. At a time
when they are busy with school, homework and
exams Lucy and Emma have shown immense
dedication to achieve this qualification.
