Meet FUDGE,
named by 3rd
Hornchurch Brownie
Samantha Baker
Eight
years old Samantha
Baker was presented with her very own
FUDGE after she won a Countywide
competition to name our Big Brownie
Birthday mascot.
Chris Skinner, Assistant County
Commissioner, along with Task and
Finish Group Leaders Linda Harris and
Margaret Henderson, paid a surprise visit
to the Brownie meeting in Hornchurch to
hand over her prize.
Samantha was delighted with her special Fudge which has a
specially printed sash with her name on it.
Fudge is now available to buy for just £5.50 - see the order form on
the website and ebulletin. There are just 750 available so don’t leave it
too long before ordering

On Wednesday 26th
June the 4th Epping
Brownies participated in a
sponsored charity run
held at Stonards
Hill Recreational
Ground.
The event was
organised and
lead on the night
by former Brownie
Kathrine Foy.
Kathrine
ensured the 28
Brownies, and a few siblings, undertook fun ‘warm-up’
exercises prior to the start of the run. Many parents
attended to help on the night with marshalling the course
,recording the number of laps completed, or even ran
themselves.
The evening was rounded off with well deserved
refreshments and a raffle. A fantastic £575.90 was raised
for the Great Ormond Street Hospital (A charity close to
the hearts of the pack as a few of the Brownies have been
fortunate to receive such excellent treatment there) .

got together with the
community to ensure a
very Merry Christmas for
soldiers of the 2nd Battalion Anglian Regiment who are
spending the festive season serving in Afganistan by filling
more than 80 shoeboxes with festive cheer. The boxes were
handed over to Region Shoebox co-ordinator Kim NewmanClark, and will be with the Battalion by Christmas.

We all met outside Tesco’s car park
at 8:15 to get on the coaches to
Cadbury`s World.
When we eventually got off the
coaches the first thing we did was
eat lunch. After that we all played
in the three storey play
park. Once we had
finished playing we
went into the museum
to see how Cadbury`s
was first made.
We watched some
videos and learned more about the making of Cadbury`s chocolate.
Then we saw how chocolate was made and put into packaging.
When you are there you get loads of free chocolate, you get two
bars when you go in, you get another bar of chocolate when you go
into the packaging area, as well as games and quizzes, you also get
to write your name in chocolate, and after that you get a cup of melted
chocolate and if you go into the other building near the play park you get
even more chocolate!!! When you go into the purple planet you get to dance in chocolate rain and play a chocolate game
.Another thing you get to do is go on the ride Cadbra which is fun.
After that, my group went into the green screen and had our picture taken as if we were surfing on a Cadbury`s chocolate
bar and riding on a chocolate wave.
My favourite part of Cadbury`s World was having the photo done. My least favourite part was when it says you dance in
chocolate rain but it`s not real chocolate. All in all Cadbury`s world was a really fun trip, and I would recommend going there
either with your guiding group or with family members. Caitlin Taylor 5th Gidea Park Guides

Upminster North
District Guides had a
fantastic time on their
Baden Powell Adventure
at Pax Lodge. They
enjoyed a Monopoly
challenge around London,
including the market with
all the international food
stalls at Camden Lock, as
well as an International
Evening, with Leaders from
Japan, Girl Scouts from
America, and the Pax Lodge
Volunteers from around the
world.
The girls received their
Pax Lodge pins and BP
Adventure badges and
certificates from the Pax Lodge Staff and also earned their
World Guiding Badge as well!
The girls all agreed they had a guiding adventure that they
will never forget, and made friends with the Girl Scouts from
the USA exchanging friendship bracelets with them.
