C
reative Business Cup (CBC)
is a global competition for
entrepreneurs from creative
industries. Every year, the best companies
from each country compete against
each other at the international finals in
Copenhagen in November during GEW.
This year more than 60 countries will be
represented.
CBC attracts investors looking for
opportunities in the creative industries
and is a space where companies can
find new innovative solutions. As Rasmus
Wiinstedt Tscherning, Managing Director
CBC says: “Don’t think what you can do for
entrepreneurs, think what entrepreneurs
from the creative industries can do for your
company and for society.”
Innovation driven by people with creative
skills - creative entrepreneurs - is a major
engine for growth. According to the 2010
European Competitiveness Report, the
creative industries show higher growth
rates than average and contribute to around
3% of the EU’s GDP Moreover, they provide
.
quality jobs to around 6.7 million people
across the EU.
But this is far from their full potential. Studies
show that creative entrepreneurs are less
successful than other entrepreneurs when it
comes to developing a profitable business
model. They often need assistance in
accessing financing as well as mentorship
to teach them basic business skills. Those
who do succeed become LEGO, Disney,
H&M and Cirque du Soleil.
It is also a fact that society must constantly
find new ways to solve its biggest
challenges. Creative entrepreneurs
contribute to innovation not only in their
own industry, but also in all other industries
and traditional sectors become more
competitive when collaborating with
creative companies.
WHO ARE
THE CREATIVE
INDUSTRIES?
Teddy the Guardian is a plush teddy bear with embedded sensors that
measure a child’s heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and body
temperature. The sensors use wireless technology to send this data to a parent’s
smart phone or directly to a paediatrician.

“The Creative Business Cup experience motivated us, as team, to adopt and
apply creativity as an approach to every aspect of business development the
company has been experiencing. CBC does make you aware of the world’s most
creative projects, challenges you to offer the best your business has got to offer
and lets you discover new aspects of the industry.”

CBC is unique. Its global network and marketplace
allows creative entrepreneurs to scale their business
concepts, connect with investors and partners and
boost their potential by bringing them all together in
one worldwide competition.
Although CBC supports the most talented creative
entrepreneurs all year round, the focus is the annual
competition which starts with each participating
country selecting their best creative startups. In

November, these national champions compete
against each other in Copenhagen for the title of
World’s Best Creative Entrepreneur.
Naturally, the finals attract a large and diverse group
of entrepreneurs, organisations and policymakers
who can participate in workshops, be inspired, meet
investors and attend the CBC award show.
CBC is designed to lift the entire ecosystem for
creative entrepreneurs by helping them to grow their
businesses globally and to unleash the full potential
of their innovative solutions in all industries. It’s a
global movement supported by investors, media,
organisations, policymakers and governments
around the world. The international finals are a
feature of GEW, as Thom Ruhe, previously Vice
President of Entrepreneurship, Kauffman Foundation,
USA and CBC jury member 2013, notes:
“There are over 35.000 events happening in 140
countries during GEW. There are about five that are
marquee premier events, and this is one of them.”
