If you find it easier to learn and retain information by hearing what you are reading or writing, features like Speak Screen, Speak Selection, Typing Feedback and Predictive Text can help by adding a sound component to your text. Turn on Speak Screen to have all of the content on the page read back to you. You can also use Speak Selection to highlight a specific part of the text that you want to hear. Then follow along as highlighted words within each sentence are read aloud. With Typing Feedback activated each letter you type on your device is spoken aloud as well. You can also use Predictive Text, which suggests word options that you can listen to and choose from to get help with spellling.

Reading Support

To enable Speak Selection on your Apple device follow these easy steps:

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Speech

Then tap on Speak Selection and turn it on.

To use this feature simply highlight your chosen text by holding your finger down to select it, there will now be a 'Speak' option in the popup menu.

Typing feedback can be switched on like this:

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Speech -> Typing Feedback -> On

There are various options for your phone to speak individual letters, words as well auto-corrections and auto-capitalisations as they appear. You can also touch and hold a word to hear text predictions for a word.
