This school year was full of enlightenment, learning, and amazing experiences, however, it was in the Honors Literary Class where I was able to substantially grow as a writer. This significant growth was all due to my ambition and can be seen in all pieces found on Getaway. Although I sprouted and escaped reality, my writing still has weaknesses. Every single piece has at least one flaw, but there are two main ones I want to discuss right now. The first one is my lack of transition words. I have pieces that sound rough and choppy due to the absence of these words such as in David By Michelangelo, That Poor December Night, I Dared, and If Only You Knew. The second most important writing defect is in poetry. Some of my poems are rich in literary devices, however, there are many of them who lack these resources and instead of enriching the piece, they decay it. These poems are the following ones, His Shadow and And You Know What? It is in these aspects where I need further focus and development. It may sound as if all my pieces are inadequate and unsatisfactory, but let me tell you something, I am pleased with every single one of them. It is here, where I want to explain you about my strengths. First of all, one of my major aptitudes is my writing process. I am capable of drafting, writing, revising, and evolving a poem or a short story into a magical masterpiece. I take into consideration the suggestions provided by peers and teachers and try to include them in my pieces. This writing process can be found in That Poor December Night, Starry Night, and I Dared. Finally, my biggest acquired skill is creating. It was in this school year where I learned how to create life with words and this is something that every single piece I have written has. To conclude, I just want to say that in this year-long getaway I was able to find myself as a writer and to confront
my fears to give rise to the finest chef-d'Ĺ“uvres.
