v&a vlog evaluation
In the 80’s it was completely about experimentation. Colour differed depending on what look you went for. Often it was about being completely un traditional, this meant doing things like wearing blue mascara with green eyeshadow along with crazy hair styles that just got higher!
There wasn’t much of a difference between men’s and women’s fashion in the 80’s. This is because it was an era of unisex clothing. Big biker jackets, baggy ripped jeans and Converse’s.
It was such a mix of an era as there were three types of fashions such as the Casuals who adopted a football fan style, that took to wearing high end designers like Burberry, Adidas and Lacoste. This fashion was adopted by other countries as fans went to see games they adopted the high end style. However, the only downside to the was the fact that fake designer clothing was being produced as not everyone could afford it that wanted it.
The second trend that was adopted in the eighties was the Goths. This has an influence of medieval European image mixed with the punk rocker look. They went with the heavy black look there was not colour or sense of happiness.
The final trend of the eighties was the New Romantics. This trend came from the underground London Night Clubs and they all dressed themselves in a glam rock with lots of sparkle and heavy makeup with the pop of glitter eyeshadow and blusher. This whole look came from the iconic musician David Bowie.
The New Romantics were an important trend group to include in our video and presentation because David Bowie was such a strong influenced that was loved even though he influenced such a wacky fashion craze.
To conclude, I though myself and Amelia did an amazing video. We thought it is engaging as it was short bursts of information each time. Instead of just traditionally videoing it we decided to use a social media platform called Snapchat to do small 10 second videos of ourselves in a vlogging style. We thought this would capture the audience attention because it is a different approach to talking in a video. Also it enabled us to keep the attention on ourselves talking and nothing in the background that would distract the audience. As well as this, it was an idea that no one else had or used so it made our video different from the others.
We made sure that our video was dead on 3 minutes just like brief said, and overall it was the perfect amount of time. This let us have the right balance of showing the video and presenting. We did a PowerPoint presentation that we delivered verbally with confidence and professionalism Me and Amelia placed bullet points on the PowerPoint for each era on the slides playing behind us and just talked from our knowledge off of that as we both agreed the presentation would not be professional if we just read chunks of writing off the board or have que cards. We used our Fashion Knowledge and it worked perfectly, as it allowed us to show off our knowledge and be able to communicate to a higher standard with the audience as we could face them instead of the board.
