MY TAKE ON 90'S HIP HOP

"I love how the hip hop fashion is mainly dominated by men, I find this good because it shows the beginning of change that different sex’s can dominate in different ways they normally wouldn’t. "

The Hip Hop culture in the 90’s massively impacts on todays society. Hip Hop culture involves people being on the streets showing who they were and what they wore. To be fresh and cool, your trainers must be cleaned and must categorise in the latest trend. Taking it to the next level and only caring about being fresh was the people on the streets main priority. Of course an average person wants to look their best on a day to day basis, however hip hop culture in the 90’s had taken this further. Wearing baggy denim trousers, a brightly coloured tank top paired with the newest puma trainers and a chain around your neck meant you were out there and fly.

There are many reason why I like the hip hop culture, I think it is so influential and think there is so much to it. What I mean by tha is there is so many categories that fall upon hip hop culture. These include, celebrities, lifestyle, clothing, designers, music and people. I believe hip hop is influential because all the trends have been carried on for years since the beginning. New and old designers, create ideas revolving around the hip hop trends that are today shown on catwalks in fashion weeks and are still seen on the streets today combined with other trends. I believe small amounts, or big, hip hop styles are present in everyones wardrobes today. I find it fascinating and love how the hip hop fashion is dominated by men, I think that its good and shows the beginning of change that different sex’s can dominate in ways they normally wouldn’t. I have always thought that fashion allowed people to express themselves and their individuality, hip hop fashion in the 90s is where I believe this officially started. People allowed themselves to be unique by choosing what they wore and I strongly support that society shouldn't feel scared to show off their own fashion preference and style, in the 90’s people started to feel free from what they decided to wear. Music and Fashion are up there on the list of my favourite things of all time. I really love how Rap music in the 90’s combined with the hip hop fashion. Although when rap music started it was influenced by disco and funk, rap music became something of its own and built a background and a specific audience, these people were all in the movement of hip hop culture.
