MY THREE FAVOURITE ERA'S
"I find it really interesting how fashion changes over decades and how trends start and finish."
IN MY VIDEO, I TALK ABOUT MY THREE FAVOURITE FASHION ERA'S and my time spent at the V&A. When I visited the V&A museum I found it very informative to see every single era and to see how styles changed and how trends began and what influenced them. Leaving the V&A made me realise what my favourite fashion era’s were, this concluded to be the forties, sixties and nineties.
Visiting the V&A allowed me to see not just the clothes but the shoes, bags and accessories that go with them. I also took footage from my Nan’s house, she brought down old photos from the loft from all of these era’s and it was interesting to see what my family members wore back in the day. The pictures from the forties belonged to my great nan. Looking back at each image I can see that each family member followed the trends of each era. I really like the fashion of the forties because I find it interesting how the war changed women’s fashioned how women weren't afraid to wear whole animals over their shoulder. You definitely wouldn't see that in 2016! My favourite fashion era of all time is the sixties, this is because women could feel comfortable and free with what they chose to wear, they could wear short skirts if they wanted to and bright colours. The reason why I like the nineties is because this is where women started to dress more masculine by wearing, suit trouser, suit jackets and waistcoats but still manage to make it masculine with tight bodies worn underneath with pastel colours and prints. I find that this video informs the viewer on each trend and popular garments of each era and includes information on events that impacted, however not as much as I could have included.
