A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE

In my opinion, in the future, Bangkok will change negatively. I think that most of the changes wont be that good but there is a posibility of something good happening.

The Thai capital, built on swampland, is slowly sinking and the floods currently besieging Bangkok could be merely a foretaste of a grim future as climate change makes its impact felt, experts say. Bangkok is sinking! The low-lying metropolis lies just 30 kilometres (18 miles) north of the Gulf of Thailand, where various experts forecast sea level will rise by 19 to 29 centimetres (7 to 11 inches) by 2050 as a result of global warming. Water levels would also increase in Bangkok's main Chao Phraya river, which already overflows regularly. In the 1970s Bangkok was sinking at about 10 cm a year. Lately it stopped sinking at that speed thanks to measures taken by some people making it sink only 1 cm per year. Today it continues sinking. There are different estimations about when will bangkok sink completely. In 2011, some people thought that Bangkok will sink approximately in 2030. While others, in 2013, believe that this will happen in 2050, more or less in 40 years.

Also there are some possitive points in Bangkoks future. One of them is tourism. Bangkoks touristic future will be as good as always, despite te economic gloom. Thailand is still one of the top value-for-money destinations in the region. Bangkok could be rebuild after it is flooded in a new self-sustaining floating way. But this might take a while in which all of Bangkoks population will have no place to live and if it is flooded there will be no more tourism.

As for traffic, there have been many improvements in public transport but when there are flloods it comes to a stop. So all in all future traffic isnt very good, in distant future. In the near future it will be better.
