Georgia Writers Authority August 2015 | Page 2

From the Editor...

Welcome to the August digital magazine newsletter for the Georgia Writers Association! Like the July and September issues, this magazine is a final project for Executive Director Dr. Margaret Walter’s Professional and Academic Editing course in the Masters of Arts in Professional Writing program. When I first learned of this project, I felt so excited to be part of a project that would be read by someone besides classmates and our professor. This digital magazine has served as a fantastic capstone to a course that emphasizes the practicality and versatility required in professional editing environments. As a writer and editor, I took this issue of the magazine to really serve as a text that can be handed to those who do not know about the fantastic work Georgia Writers Association does, and to emphasize the community of writers the association fosters.

I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this, and hope that you find the content enjoyable and useful. I promise you, if you enjoy any of this issue’s content, you will greatly benefit from becoming a member of Georgia Writers Association.

Happy reading!

Our mission for the

August 2015 issue of the

Georgia Writers Authority...

The mission of the August 2015 issue of the Georgia Writers Authority digital magazine is to make tangible the dream many creative types have: to add writing into an already bustling lifestyle that includes non-creative work, children, family, social obligations and other priorities. It’s for those who keep a journal in their purse for their lunch break, wake up at 5:00 AM to write before the first child bounds out of bed to get ready for school, and for the corporate lawyer who bills 60 hours a week, but dreams of his days where his primary responsibility was to produce creative work.

About the georgia writers association

The Georgia Author of the Year Awards and the Red Clay Writers Conference are two annual events hosted by the Georgia Writers Association.
