Engaging Future Criminal Justice Leaders
Executive Director of Parole Chris Barnett and Senior Hearing Examiner Wade Wheeler were among the hundreds of law enforcement and court system professionals, educators, students and citizens attending the recent training conference for the Georgia Gang Investigators Association (GGIA). The meetings were held in Young Harris, Georgia.
“The training was excellent. The Georgia Gang Investigators Association is an organization that enables all citizens of Georgia to understand the impact on our youth and continued threat to public safety and to be active in addressing and combating gang violence,” stated Barnett.
The Georgia Gang Investigators Association was founded in 1998, to address gang activity and violence across Georgia.
Last August, the Parole Board's Director of Field Services, Felecia Holloway, graduated from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Training Course.
The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) aspires to increase the levels of police professionalism, improve the level of training, and enhance educational credentials and professional development for law enforcement executives.
“An excellent training experience! I honed my leadership skills, learned many new things and techniques and developed some new working relationships,” said Holloway.
Executive Director of Parole Chris Barnett is a previous graduate of the GACP Executive Training Course.
Parole Investigator Kriston Mauldin recently presented information about her role with the State Board of Pardons and Paroles as she spoke to a criminal justice class at the University of North Georgia.
Mauldin spoke virtually to thirty (30) students at the Department of Criminal Justice, College of Arts & Letters at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.
Mauldin presented to the class instructed by Sallie Parker, Public Safety Academy Coordinator.
Parole investigators work in the Board’s Clemency Division. They complete investigations for case files providing the Parole Board Members with necessary information prior to the parole decision being made. The investigators’ work ensures the board is making informed decisions.
