Terry Barnard is now serving a ninth term as Parole Board Chairman.

At the June 8, 2023, Parole Board Meeting, the five-member State Board of Pardons and Paroles elected Terry Barnard as chairman for Fiscal Year 2024 which began July 1, 2023. Only the Board’s first chairman, Edward B. Everett, has served longer as chair. Everett served nearly ten years from March of 1943 to January of 1953.

Chairman Barnard served as chair for three consecutive one-year terms from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2017. He resumed serving as chair on July 1, 2018, and has continued in the leadership role without interruption.

During the meeting, Chairman Barnard praised the current board and the entire agency workforce.

“It has been an honor. We’ve all changed over the course of time and I have had an awesome responsibility and also a debt of humility to work for you as your board chairman," Barnard said.
