Georgia Parole Processes Highlighted at International Conference
Parole Board Vice Chair Jacqueline Bunn led the Georgia delegation at the Association of Paroling Authorities International (APAI) 2022 Training Conference in San Diego in May.
"Each year the APAI Training Conference provides excellent opportunities for paroling authorities to learn about best practices. The sessions were informative, and we are proud to be a member of APAI,” stated Vice Chair Bunn. “Our parole staff did a fantastic job in their presentations,” added Bunn.
The Georgia Parole Board provided a general session titled, "The Media, Critical Incidents, and Stakeholder Engagement" and a breakout workshop titled, "Guidelines for End-Stage Decision Making."
Executive Director Chris Barnett and leadership from the Board’s Legal, Clemency and Field Services divisions attended this year’s conference.
"APAI provides excellent professional development and networking opportunities. These opportunities have resulted in operational enhancements not only here in Georgia, but across this great nation. The Georgia Parole Board is a continuous learning institution and consistently considered to be on the cutting edge of best practices in the field of executive clemency. As we continue our engagement with APAI and share knowledge gained, we enhance public safety for all, " said Barnett.
