The Georgia Public Safety Training Center hosts the Parole Board's June monthly operational meeting
The Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) was the location for the State Board of Pardons and Paroles' June operational meeting. In addition to electing the chair and vice chair, Rita Rocker, the Director of the Georgia Office of Victim Services provided the Board and the public with a review of the office's recent training conference at Lake Lanier Islands.
GPSTC Director Chris Wigginton spoke after the meeting, giving the Board and parole staff an overview of the training center's operations. GPSTC is the state's primary law enforcement training center serving all jurisdictions.
The Board Members met with state inmates who work at GPSTC, following the meeting.
"Engaging the inmate population is important on several fronts," says Chris Barnett, the agency's Executive Director.
"The Board Members incorporate what they learn from the offenders into their decision making," added Barnett.
