BUNN ELECTED NEW VICE CHAIR
2021 Award recipient for lifetime achievement and public service
New Vice Chair Jacqueline Bunn received two prestigious awards in 2021: the Marquis Who’s Who "Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award” and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Foundation’s Barbara A. Harris Award for Service to the Community.
One of Ms. Bunn’s favorite quotes is by Alexander Hamilton who said, “The first duty of society is justice.” Her career is a reflection of Hamilton’s charge to seek justice as her raison d’etre. She started her legal career as an associate attorney for several prominent law firms in Atlanta and New Jersey. She transitioned into the role of assistant attorney general for the Georgia Department of Law, Office of the Attorney General, in Atlanta in 1997. Attorney Bunn served as Deputy Director of Legal Services for the Georgia Department of Public Safety from 2006 to 2013.
During her career, Ms. Bunn has been involved with many professional organizations. She’s a member of the National Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the New Jersey Bar Association. She currently serves as a member of the Promoting Inclusion in the Profession Committee for the State Bar of Georgia and previously served on the Georgia Bar Journal.
She is a past president of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA). Her selection as the 2021 Judge Barbara Harris Service to the Community Award recipient by the GABWA Foundation is the culmination of a career steeped in commitment to public service.
She’s also a member of the Association of Women Executives in Corrections and the Georgia Professional Association of Community Supervision. In 2019, Ms. Bunn received the State Bar’s highest award, the Thomas R. Burnside Jr. Excellence in Bar Leadership Award. She is also a member of the Henry Toll Fellowship Program Class of 2016.
