Cotton, Barnett at Police Chiefs

In February, Board Member Braxton Cotton, Exec. Director Chris Barnett, Clemency Director James "Bubba" Williams and Communications Director Steve Hayes traveled to Athens to speak to the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. Association Executive Director Frank Rotondo invited parole to the chief's winter training conference in Athens.

"We are working closely with our law enforcement partners across Georgia keeping our citizens safe and what an opportunity to visit and share parole information with our Chiefs of Police," said Chris Barnett, Executive Director of Parole.

GDC Family Day

More than 500 family and friends of state inmates attended the Department of Corrections’ Family Day in Forsyth in April. The State Board of Pardons and Paroles assisted with the event meeting with those who requested to speak with Parole Hearing Examiners and ask parole related questions.

"Inmate families are a parole stakeholder and they are extremely important to the offender's success upon reentry," stated Chris Barnett, Executive Director of Parole. "It's important that inmate families understand their role in reentry and that's the importance of Parole meeting with them."
