In her first thirty days, new Parole Board Member Joyette Holmes attended several meetings with staff, in addition to making informed parole decisions. Holmes who was appointed in January by Governor Brian Kemp met with leadership and staff from the Clemency and Field Services Divisions and the
"I can only say again as I did at my first board meeting, I have been truly welcomed to this agency and I have learned how dedicated the staff are to their roles and the mission of this agency. The experience of the staff will be an asset to me as I continue on the board," said Holmes.
Holmes also met with the other Board Members.
Holmes' appointment was effective January 5, 2024.

April was Second Chance Month nationally and in Georgia. The Clemency Division participated in the second annual "Welcome Home Conference: Second Chance at Success," hosted by the city of Savannah and the Savannah Advocates for Restorative Communities in Savannah.
"We're proud to have been part of this collaborative effort to create a more inclusive and supportive community for returning citizens," said Clemency Director Crystal Moon.
