Hurricane Relief

State Board of Pardons and Paroles' employees engaged their communities through various volunteer events during the fall of 2017.

Parole Investigator, Jo-Ann Marie Sanchez-Cotto and family, went home to Puerto Rico to assist others in need following devastating hurricanes. Over the holidays, she packed up supplies donated by her parole colleagues, traveled to Puerto Rico, and brightened the lives of many who were displaced by the hurricanes.

Clothing and other donated items were distributed. The selfless act was the brainstorm of her daughter, 12- year old Franscheska. She had asked her mom if there was a way that they could help their people in Puerto Rico. Many in Puerto Rico lost everything in the hurricanes. Our parole family also visited an orphanage.

Parole Spreads Holiday Cheer

The Parole Board was spreading holiday cheer with a delivery of gifts for those at My Sister’s House, an overnight shelter assisting women and children in Atlanta. Parole is proud to partner with My Sister’s House, located at the Atlanta Mission. Parole employees donated the new toys in time for Christmas for those at the shelter.

State Charitable Program

Team Parole served up hotdogs and chili as a part of the State Charitable Contributions Program (SCCP). Thanks to all who supported the event and filled themselves with great food, raising $630 for SCCP!

Our winner of the best chili and bake off is Rita Rothwein! Our T-shirt design contest winner was Erika Johnson.

To raise awareness for SCCP, a fall fest feast and Halloween costume contest was conducted.

Respect in Recovery

Team parole turned out for the "Respect in Recovery 5K Run/Walk" at Grant Park in Atlanta.

The event is a partnership of state agencies to end stigma, promote mental health, highlight Georgia’s successful reentry programs, and celebrate the successes of those in recovery.

"We're honored to be one of the sponsoring agencies for this great event. I'm proud of our caring and dedicated staff for showing their support today," said Board Member Jacqueline Bunn, who participated. All parole employees finished and a shout out to Exec. Director Chris Barnett, who placed in the top TEN!!

Hearing Examiner runs for St. Jude's

Parole Hearing Examiner Tiffany Clark recently participated in the Chicago Marathon raising funds for St. Jude's. Great Job Tiffany! She finished and raised money for such a deserving cause. "I wanted to thank everyone that donated to St Jude, thoughtfully to me and for all the text messages of encouragement. 400 runners raised $545,000 for St. Jude. I finished (upright no less) what was a hot and humid 26.2 miles, in the windy city!!! With about 50,000 other runners." - Tiffany Clark
