Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles Operations Meetings
Georgia's Parole Board conducts agency operations meetings. The Board Members received agency operational updates at meetings held in January 2025 and last September in 2024.
The September 2024 meeting was held on the campus of the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. It was the first meeting as chairman for David Herring.
"Our goal is to take our meetings on the road occassionally to engage more of the public," said Herring.
"We are a transparent board. By engaging our stakeholders we become a more successful board," added Herring.
A career fair for UNG students was included and was attended by several criminal justice partners to include the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, the Georgia Department of Corrections, and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

"Today was a great opportunity for us to bring the agency's operations to UNG and their staff, students, and area residents. We provided insight as to our role in Georgia's criminal justice system. I know the entire board appreciates the support from UNG President Michael Shannon and that of Dahlonega Mayor JoAnne Taylor," said Herring.
"We want to thank President Shannon for inviting us and becoming a great public safety partner for the Parole Board," said Herring.
Both President Shannon and Mayor Taylor made remarks at the meeting.
Executive Director of the Parole Board, Chris Barnett, delivered an operational update.
"We spoke about how our staff and board are engaging stakeholders in the parole process and improving public safety. Today's meeting was an effort to engage a stakeholder, the public. We certainly hope to do this more often," Barnett said.
The highlight of the January 2025 Board Meeting was new member Robert Markley joining the five-member board. (See page 2)
Executive Director Chris Barnett provided the audience with an operational update which included updates from leadership staff.
Comfort Dog Asher and Handler Mandy Kimner also made an appearance at the January meeting.

Georgia Parole Review
"More Promotions"
Thomas Green has been appointed the agency's Training Director. Green was a District Operations Manager in the Field Services Division. Green began his career in 2005 as a corrections officer.
Craig Flint has been promoted to Deputy Director of the Investigations Division. Flint was the Chief Institutional Investigator prior to the move. He is a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.
