Stakeholder Engagement Enhances
Operations and Public Safety
Everyone is a stakeholder in the parole process and the decisions made by the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. As a result, the leadership at the Board strives to continuously engage critical stakeholders.
During the last quarter of 2024, the engagement included meeting with the Georgia Sheriffs' Association (newly elected sheriffs), Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, Douglas County District Attorney's Office, Macon Regional Crimestoppers, Georgia Public Defender Council, Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the University System of Georgia (USG) and Technical College System of Georgia's (TCSG) Police Chiefs.
"We're engaging and educating stakeholders regarding the parole board and our decision making processes, and we're encouraging our stakeholders to be active participants in those processes and our operations," said Chris Barnett, Executive Director of the Parole Board.
Parole leaders also met and engaged criminal justice and public safety partners to include the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, Georgia Department of Corrections, and the Georgia Commission on Family Violence.
Victim Impact Sessions allow the board to engage crime victims.
Offenders are also engaged and encouraged to be "parole ready."
