Parole Board Member Meg Heap is among the recent appointees of Governor Brian Kemp to the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). Heap has served on the JNC since 2019.

“I am honored that the Governor reappointed me to the JNC. I look forward to meeting and interviewing potential candidates for judgeships. In Georgia, we are blessed to have many qualified candidates,” stated Heap.

The JNC makes recommendations to the Governor to fill vacancies in state, superior, and appellate courts in Georgia.

Heap was appointed to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles in January 2021 by Governor Kemp.

Board Member on Judicial Nominating Commission

The introduction of the agency's new Clemency Director highlighted the January 11, 2022, monthly meeting of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. Crystal Moon was appointed to the position effective January 1st. The five member Parole Board approved policy updates and received presentations from the agency divisions and support offices during the meeting. Three of the five members attended the meeting by phone.

The public may speak at the montly meetings about items on the agenda. Comments about specific offender cases are not taken at the meetings. Offender case information can be accessed by calling the Board's call center at 404-656-4661 or emailing the agency's ombudsman at [email protected].

Board Members are voting cases electronically daily.

The Board also met last fall during September.

At the September 14, 2021, meeting, the Board received information from Human Resources, Budget, and its communications office.
