The State Board of Pardons and Paroles is working to engage criminal justice partners, stakeholders and communities across Georgia. During the summer and early fall the agency's executive leadership engaged several civic organizations in order to inform community leaders about the Board's scientific, data driven, public parole process.

Steve Hayes, Communications Director for the Parole Board spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville. Hayes explained how the Board's decision making process works for public safety and highlighted the agency's operational 4E's; Engaging Stakeholders, Educating the Community, Eliciting Active Participation in the Parole Process and Enhancing Operations. As a result, public safety is enhanced.

Executive Director of Parole Chris Barnett spoke to the Hinesville Rotary Club.

"We want to thank the Hinesville Rotary Club for allowing us to share information about the public safety mission of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. Our goal is to engage,

educate and involve communities in the parole process in order to continuously enhance our operations which will continue to enhance public safety," stated Barnett.

Hayes also spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Macon and again detailed the Board's parole decision making

process while delivering an overview

of the agency's criminal justice role and mission.

Clemency Director Rick Jacobs joined Barnett and Hayes at the Forsyth-Monroe County Rotary Club.

One thousand dollars was raised for the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) through a charitable golf outing in August. Participating Georgia agencies included the Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, and the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. The event included individuals and many supporters to benefit this wonderful nonprofit foundation.

“It was awesome to see the fellowship enjoyed by all of the players from the different agencies and organizations while supporting CPOF which has the backs of law enforcement officials and families in their time of need,” said Chris Barnett, Executive Director of Parole.
